White Water Safari (Six Flags Discovery Kingdom) is a rapids water ride where riders get more than just wet; they’ll get soaked. It is one of the most popular water rides at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom because of the unpredictable nature of who will be the one to get the wettest on the ride.
However, this ride is not open all year round, like most Discovery Kingdom rides. White Water Safari is only open during certain seasons at Six Flags and closed for most of the year.
When is it open, why is it closed, what is the ride like, and how wet do you get are all questions that you may be asking yourself. Here is everything you need to know about White Water Safari (Six Flags Discovery Kingdom)!
Ride experience for White water Safari (six flags discovery kingdom)
White Water Safari (Six Flags Discovery Kingdom) begins from the moving, round dock, like most rapid river rides. The rafts constantly move, so riders must quickly get on board their raft and sit in their seat. Each seat has a seatbelt that goes across the rider’s lap. They can also place any bags or valuables within the round centerpiece of the raft, so they don’t get wet during the ride. The centerpiece also has handlebars to hold onto if riders want.
The rapids begin as riders pass under the first bridge of the ride within a minute of departing the dock. From this point onwards, waves will crash into the raft at random moments, wetting all riders. Riders enter a dark tunnel, then exit into a right turn that takes them under a waterfall on the right wall. All riders on the right side of the raft at that moment will get soaked by the waterfall. Riders on the left side won’t get drenched, but they will get wet from the splashes.
Riders continue forward on the twisty river before passing another waterfall wall on the right side that doesn’t come out far enough to wet riders much. The river continues onwards with multiple bumps along the way purposefully placed to cause the raft to dip down, creating waves that splash into the raft, wetting all passengers. Riders arrive at a conveyor belt that returns them to the dock station, ending the ride.
